Itinerary for 4 nights
Day 1: Arrive in Paro (Altitude: 2280m)
After your Arrival at Paro Airport, Your guide will receive you and take you to the hotel. Lunch at local restaurant. After lunch visit Rinpung Dzong which was built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1646 and it serves as administrative centre and the monk body of the district.
Then visit kichhu lhakhang built by Tibetan king Song tsengonpo in 7th century and said that he built 108 temples in one day to pin down the demons which is lying around the Himalayas. One here in Paro and one at Bumthang, Jambay lhakhang, other at Tibet.
After kichu lhakhang, Visit Drukgyal Dzong built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1647.
Drukgyal means-Victory over Tibetan invaders and damage the whole thing by the fire in 1951.
The Dzong you can see is in ruins only, you can make a short walk to the ruins and enjoy the environment around.
Rest time at leisure and stay in Hotel Paro.
Day 2: Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Altitude: 3000m) (4 hours)
Taktsang means (Tigers nest) Built by Gyaltse Tenzin Rabgay, One of the ruler during the medieval Bhutan and built in 1684.The monastery stands on the face of a rock and the rock on which the monastery lies plunges more than 900m in to the gorge below.
It is believed that Guru Rinpoche, a great master came riding on a tigress from eastern Bhutan to paro, and mediated here for 3 months and spread the Buddhism in to our country. Now most of people of Bhutan, this is their dream to visit the monastery once in their life time.
After lunch visit Traditional Farm house, where you can see the real way of Traditional living in Bhutan and also enjoy the Dhotso-Hotstone bath with cup of local Ara mixed with local egg.
Rest of the time at leisure or shopping.
Night stay in Hotel Paro.
Day 3: Paro – Thimphu (1hour- 54KM)
In the morning drive to capital city, Thimphu.On the way you will see the temple built by iron bridge builder Thangthong Gyalpo in 14 century. He is not only the bridge builder but also the architect, and Poet master. After that you will cross chhuzom (water confluence or meeting of water, wangchhu and Pachhu).
From the chhuzom, Drive to Thimphu, is the capital city and is home for the sevil servant, Seat of Bhutan’s government and commercial centre of Bhutan.
Visit memorial chorten, which was built in 1974 to honour the memory of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Also this is a place where people can do the offerings, Prostration and reciting around the chorten for their future life.
Visit Traditional 13 Arts and Craft (Zorigchusum) Established in 1971 by the Royal Government of Bhutan. Here you can see the different types of Traditional Arts, Crafts and Weaving by the students.
Then visit Flock heritage museum introduced by Her Royal Highness Queen Sangay Choden Wang chuck in 2001, to preserve and promote our traditions.
Visit Zoo, There you can see the Takin, the National animal of Bhutan and different types of animals.
Visit weaving centre at Changzamtog, the private owned company and enjoy the Traditional way of weaving by the Bhutanese women with different style and patrons.
Visit Tashi Chhoe Dzong (The Fortress of a great happiness) Built by Zhabdrung, the unifier of our country in 1641. The Dzong serves as administration and monk body and also use as a summer residence of Jekhenpo, (The country’s chief abbot)
Rest time for the shopping and overnight in the hotel.
Day 4 Thimphu-Punakha, Sightseeing (3hours -76KM)
After breakfast drive to Punakha, on the way you will cross Dochula pass (altitude: 3150m). There you can see 108 Stupa built by elderest Queen of fourth King in 2003 for the world peace and for the fourth King of Bhutan. If the weather is very fine you may see the highest Himalayas of Bhutan.
From their drive to Punakha and visit the Dzong, built in 1637 by the Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and the Dzong use as winter residence of jekhenpo (country’s chief abbot) and also consider as most beautiful Dzong in our country.
After lunch drive back to Thimphu-Paro, this will take 4hours to reach there. On the way visit Botinacal Park at Lamperi, where you can see the different flowers and plants. Also this is a nice place where you can enjoy the environment.
Then drive straight to Paro and overnight in the hotel Paro.
Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, Drive to Paro Airport and you leave Bhutan safely.
